Two-year DIY build, done right and documented. Pine tongue-and-groove throughout, bench seating that converts to a full bed in under a minute, and a butcher-block kitchenette with a deep sink and 12V fridge.
Electrical is the strong suit: 400Ah lithium, 600W of solar, 2000W inverter — we've boondocked for 3 weeks straight in southern Utah without starting the engine. Outdoor shower with privacy tent, composting toilet, 25 gallons of fresh water.
The ProMaster's front-wheel drive and wide body make it the easiest big van to drive and the roomiest to live in. Fresh tires at 50k, transmission serviced, everything works. Build spreadsheet with every receipt goes to the buyer.
